Ribbon Mixer

Conical Ribbon Blender
This ribbon mixer is good mechanism for mixing, granulation and homogenizing process.  It can be used for some range of applications such as powder and fiber, including free flowing to cohesive and moist  material.

This design is very sturdy and robust. It  is consists of a conical Vessel with flat head. The agitator shaft located on the center is driven from top end with gear reducer. A double helical ribbon agitator in the vessel moves the product upward along the outer wall and releases it downward into cavities developed in the middle, simultaneously material is horizontally distributed by the mixing arm and is optimally homogenized.

Mixing time is depending on the agitator speed. The drive and bearings are kept outside of the vessel, no gears or seals in the product compartment. The rotating central agitator shaft does not have bottom bearing support there by eliminating any dead spots or difficult areas to clean and there is no danger of product contamination. Discharge of the product is fast and simple as full bore open.

DESIGN I: STUDENT SHOULD FOCUS ON DESIGN ANALYSIS

Today some of students from mechanical engineering  design I class presented the final project presentation to the panel.  They are presenting the project with their own way of presentation skill.  Most of students have presented their good presentation skill.
They are really prepared and have capability to explain the project clearly to panel and audience. Very few of them still cannot avoid to read direct information from white board or screen and not turning the face to the audience.  In term of content, some of presenter not focus on design analysis, while this part is the important content in the design project.  Hopefully, this correction can be put inside the final report and past to lecturer by coming Friday 29th October 2010.

Congratulations: MEC532 & KJM613 Students

Alhamdulillah all the students MEC532 & KJM613 Semester July-November 2010 have completed second stage of assessment after passed through progress presentation in last month.  The entire student groups have participated acceptably in final presentation.  Most of them can deliver their project presentation very well with some comments from panel.  As a student they should take comments as lesson for future practices whether in FYP or other time. Thank you all the panels.  They should appreciate task given by the group as CEO, Technical Manager, Production Manager, Marketing Manager and Finance & Admin Manager as specially facing with the panel.
